core essentials
To put CAN's model to work, organizations will need to embrace four Core Essentials as part of their model and programs:
- family model—a home-style environment with the presence of a married couple as parents with a maximum of eight children;
- long-term outcomes—investments in programs based on positive lifetime outcomes;
- quality care—providing quality services in a systematic and efficient way to the highest possible number of children;
- continuum of care—the proper assessment of children's needs and, therefore, care that begins with prevention and ends with intervention, with an emphasis on prevention at the earliest possible age.
