about medcan
MedCAN is a medical procurement program fueled by medical surplus and volunteerism, which sustains CAN in its efforts to advocate for the rights of the Fatherless by promoting best practices, information sharing, and superior long-term outcomes within orphan care.
CAN receives donated medical equipment and supplies from hospitals, clinics, distributors, and individuals. Through its core volunteers and staff, these products are then sorted, inventoried and interfaced with our web store. For a modest fee, these materials are then shipped directly to developing countries for hospital furnishing or to organizations performing medical missions. Donated equipment that is not complete or is technologically mismatched for developing countries is resold and the monies are reinvested in CAN’s mission.
Traditional Medical Supply Recovery Organizations (MSROs) have a combination of missions. On one hand, they recycle product to prevent waste, thereby helping the environment. On the other hand, they aid undersupplied areas of the world with needed medical assets. In addition to achieving these worthy endeavors, through MedCAN, CAN is able to accomplish its mission to improve the lives of the Fatherless and disadvantaged in the following three ways:
- Revenues created by the sale of donated product are reinvested into CAN members, and the children in their care, through financial and material means
- Medical services are leveraged for the Fatherless through contracts with partnering organizations that receive medical equipment and supplies
- The lives of the Fatherless are positively affected through advocacy efforts on legislative levels when working with governments that receive medical equipment and supplies

About ordering a container:
Though contents of an average container values from $100,000 - $200,000, nonprofits are given a considerable discount on the majority of the inventory in stock. While a discounted rate is offered to nonprofits, in efforts to also help support their causes, the product does have a fee to help offset administrative and operating costs included in finding, gathering and storing these resources. Before your order is final, you will need to complete payment for your order and the cost of shipping. Product is secured upon the finalization of the order. Depending on your order and product availability, your order and shipment can be processed and completed within 30 to 60 days.
Shipping costs are completely separate and are the responsibility of the receiving or sponsoring entity. The average cost is approximately $4,000 - $5,000, however, the exact cost can be given once the final destination is determined.
